A. Apples – Apples have been shown to reduce cholesterol and inflammation in the artery walls. Here’s some even better news - most organizations recommend eating this crunchy, tasty fruit everyday. Ranging in color and flavor from pink to green, there is an apple that is sure to please every palate. Apples can even help keep teeth clean and strong. Toss an apple in your purse or backpack each day for a super simple treat in between class, meetings, or errands. Slice up a medium apple to dip into a tablespoon of peanut butter for a classic quick, energizing snack.

There is no better time than now for your love of apples to grow. Apple picking season is here, don’t let this wondrous time pass you by!

B. Cauliflower – Cauliflower is a vegetable, similar to broccoli, with high antioxidant benefits that fight cancer and digestive conditions. Try this amazingly delicious recipe to replace your white rice dish. All you need to do is place cauliflower pieces into a food processor and pulse until it is broken down into rice-sized pieces. Next, heat avocado oil in a skillet on medium heat and add the cauliflower “rice”, salt, and pepper. Cover and cook for 3-5 minutes, fluffing with your fork at the end. Bon Appétit!

C. Whole Grains – Whole grains are wholeheartedly great for women! These types of grains include whole oats, brown rice, bulgur, and quinoa. When shopping in the food store, do not get tricked by labels such as “wheat” or “multigrain.” Look for labels that specifically say “100% whole wheat.” Keep in mind that some of these grains do contain gluten, aside from quinoa. Heat up a bowl of 100% organic whole-wheat plain oats in a pot for breakfast. Add a half-teaspoon of raw honey or fruit to sweeten. Mix in cinnamon for some extra benefits and a nice spicy flavor.
